Why Should We Buy Green Products

Seriously, why not?
Today global warming is already becoming a fact of life. There isn’t any reason why we should not believe the majority of scientists around the globe who are telling us how real its impacts and consequences are. Although we are sometimes skeptic about which companies are selling us the real green stuff, it wouldn’t hurt to take the extra mile of doing a little research on the things that we buy.
There are myriad reasons why we should choose green products instead of mass-produced, toxic and hazardous, and expensive ones. In fact, the preceding statement already speaks for itself. But for the sake of discussion and for the purpose of this article, we shall elaborate.
The keyword here is global sustainability. It means that each and every person around the planet needs to assume her environmental and social responsibility to consume while sustaining the world. We encounter different kinds of ethical dilemmas everyday and as consumers, these include making such choices as what clothes to buy, where to eat, or which products to use. In all decision-making that we do, it wouldn’t hurt for us to reconsider if the laundry detergent you will buy has toxic chemicals that pollute the waste stream or if you are able to save energy with your latest electronic purchase.
Of course, the best option is to abstain from buying at all, if not, to reuse, recycle and repurpose, or to at least buy “used.” But admit or not, we still have a lot of reasons to buy brand new. There would come a time when your shoes are all worn out and your furniture no longer serves its function at home. In these situations when you couldn’t help but buy, you still have the option to do so without hurting your conscience and that is by purchasing green products that are carefully selected.
Besides, buying green products has a direct implication on you, personally. For one, you can also save money by buying it green. Using renewable energy is one good example. It does not only cost less, it also requires lower maintenance and can be easily disposed.
If you have the option to get what you need while maintaining ecological balance, then why not choose that? Why not buy green products? Why not save the Earth?
Hi! I really liked your article and i absolutely agree with you. Sometimes we just forget that there are, for example, plastic cups and plates, plastic containers or energy saving bulbs on sale. They don’t cost less but they don’t cost more either. Green products are better for our health, the Earth and in some cases save our money. And yes, why not buy green products?
